It is my birthday, yes. Did you Someone sent a house-elf with some tea and tisane and three catnip mice. They are sewn from very bright cloth. And a card which says Happy Birthday but there is no name on it So I don't know who sent it. But it seems to be safe
Fang likes one of the catnip mice very much. He keeps jumping on it and tossing it up into the air. The cloth has got a pattern of dragon scales printed on it. So it is rather like a dragon-mouse.
But I don't know who sent them so I don't know whom to thank really.
Well, you handled it just as you ought, I suppose, by saying a general thank you, if you don't know. I suppose it isn't your guardian, is it? She probably would have sent it by owl.
Is Fang settling in very well? I'm glad he has some catnip mouse to make him happy.
It is not my guardian because Miss Penworthy is somewhat ill and otherwise she would certainly have remembered to send me a card but one cannot interrupt people with trivial things while they are taken up with important matters of health, of course. Also she would have signed the card. And sent it by owl, as you say. So I don't know who it might be.
Fang is still nervous around people because of when someone charmed a sparkler to his tail, but he is hissing less. Which is good, as it was annoying Susan and Millie, I think. Now he just glares at people. But that is quiet at least.
Did you get a kitten too? I haven't sorted out which one belongs to what person. There are a great many of them about.
I would have liked to have taken a kitten, but my guardian is allergic, so I knew it wouldn't be allowed.
Holding a cat can be a very good thing if you're sad or lonely. (If it's the right sort of cat, I mean, a lap cat that likes to cuddle.)
Well, I suppose a cat named 'Fang' doesn't sound like much of a lap cat. More like a hunter or s stalker. Did you name him that way as a joke, or because of his personality?
Of course a cat that's a hunter or a stalker can be a very good pet, too, if only because they're so interesting to watch. And they're good at keeping doxies and pixies away.
I named him Fang because other people were giving their kittens very sweet names. Or fancy names. But he was scruffy. And rather bitey. So he was not going to find someone to look after him by waiting for someone to find him sweet. Because he does not look sweet. Even though he sits in my lap now and purrs as long as nobody else gets too close so he has to hiss at them.
He is very fierce when he hisses. And when he shows his teeth. And maybe it is better for him to look fierce than to look sweet anyhow. So his name is Fang.
I don't know if he would chase a doxy. He probably would. So they had better watch out. Everybody should.
