I got your owl this morning, I was expecting it weeks ago and I just got out of class so this is the first chance I've had to write you.

I'm so very sorry, I truly didn't try to get into that article about Sally-Anne and Victor Krum. I didn't even see them taking pictures, but I knew as soon as I saw it that you wouldn't like it. I can imagine exactly how terrible it must have been to see your own foster-child held up as a model of how some foster parents neglect their children and leave them to be dressed by the school. I would have done anything to keep it from happening, if only I'd known.

But I know that you meant to alter my old dress robes that I used to wear to your parties, and I'm sure your friends know. And even in school robes it was a rather good picture, wasn't it? If it's not too forward of me to say, I get tears in my eyes thinking of how you care for me. One article doesn't change anything, and you mustn't think it. Please don't worry, and don't be angry.

The boy in question is Wayne Hopkins, and he was very polite. Doesn't he look polite? Please don't worry, it was only a date for the ball. I wouldn't think of actually dating without talking to you. I'm not thinking about actually dating at all! I know how much you care, and how much you worry.
